35 Ukrainians injured in Turkey bus accident - Ukrainian Foreign Ministry

Thirty-five Ukrainian tourists sustained minor and moderate injuries in a bus accident in the province of Mugla in Turkey, with the driver, a Turkish citizen, dying on the spot due to a heart attack, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko has told Ukrinform.

According to him, a tour bus accident took place near the town of Mentese in the province of Mugla.

According to tentative reports, there were 41 Ukrainian citizens on the bus. Thirty-five Ukrainian tourists suffered minor and moderate injuries. They are now receiving the necessary medical care. There are no threats to their lives.

"It is likely that the driver - a Turkish citizen – lost control of the vehicle due to a heart attack. He died at the scene," Nikolenko said.

According to him, the Ukrainian consulate in Antalya is cooperating with Turkish law enforcement agencies to find out all the circumstances of the accident. Contact has been established with the tour operator and the insurance company, which should cover the costs of treatment.

The consul also plans to visit the injured Ukrainians in the hospital to provide them with consular assistance.

Earlier reports said that a bus carrying Ukrainian tourists collided with a school bus in Turkey, killing the driver of the tour bus and injuring 49 passengers on both buses.
