Main Center of Special Control on flash over Kyiv: Cosmic body likely entered dense layers of atmosphere

Yesterday, a cosmic body likely entered the dense layers of the atmosphere, having caused a bright flash in the sky over the city of Kyiv.

The relevant statement was made by the Main Center of Special Control of the Ukrainian State Space Agency, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“At 09:57 p.m. (local time), April 19, 2023, the infrasound means of the Main Center of Special Control registered a high-energy acoustic event within the territory of Ukraine. The estimated location of the epicenter of the explosion is the Kyiv region,” the report states.

According to the Main Center of Special Control, this incident was likely caused by a cosmic body entering the dense layers of the atmosphere. Information is yet to be checked.

A reminder that, around 10:00 p.m., April 19, 2023, a bright flash of an aerial object was observed in the sky over Kyiv. Local authorities suggested it could have been caused by a NASA satellite falling to Earth. However, NASA denied that assumption.
