Kakhovka HPP blast: Water supply interrupted for 35 settlements in Dnipropetrovsk region

Following Russia’s blowing up of Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP), over 30 settlements are remaining without centralized water supply services in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The relevant statement was made by Spokesperson for the Ukrainian State Emergency Service Oleksandr Khorunzhyi during a briefing at Military Media Center, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Following the disaster, water supply systems stopped in such cities as Pokrov and Nikopol. As a result, 35 settlements are remaining without centralized water supply services, 14 of them partially,” Khorunzhyi told.

In general, over 167,000 consumers are now left without centralized water supply services in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

In order to provide civilians with water, the Ukrainian State Emergency Service organized the delivery of drinking and industrial water in the Nikopol and Kryvyi Rih districts. Rescuers have already delivered 7,000 tonnes of water, including 400 tonnes of drinking water.

A reminder that, on the night of June 6, 2023, Russian  invaders blew up the Kakhovka Dam, having caused extensive flooding in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.
