A Russian military helicopter crashed near the village of Shugovitsy in the Leningrad region this afternoon.

That is according to Current Time, Ukrinform reports.

The incident was confirmed by the head of the local district administration, Sergei Ushakov. According to him, emergency services are working at the scene, and details about the crash and casualties are being clarified.

Telegram channel Baza reported that the aircraft went down in a field in the Volosovo district and caught fire.

Russia's Defense Ministry reported that a Mi-28 helicopter crashed during a routine training flight. The crew members were killed in the accident.

According to Baza, there were two people on board the helicopter.
