Russian fake: Several million hryvnias spent on exhibition at Parliament

False information about a real event at the Ukrainian Parliament

Z-Telegram channel published a post claiming that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decided to hold an exhibition for MPs with "wax figures of Kyivan Rus princes", several million hryvnias was allegedly spent on it, it was opened for a photo report, and then closed. The post is illustrated with a photo of figures placed in one of the buildings of the Verkhovna Rada.

This is a fake. In the photo published by propagandists, you can see that the event is called "Ukraine. Formation of Statehood". Using Google, we find that the Museum of Formation of the Ukrainian Nation is one of the organizers of the exclusive exhibition "Ukraine. Formation of statehood" at the National Preserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" which will last until the end of the year.

The official Facebook page of the Museum has the information that representatives of the institution addressed the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a proposal to place a mini-exhibition "Ukraine. Formation of Statehood " to mark the Ukrainian Statehood Day. The idea was to provide information on banners about the seven state formations in which our peoples lived, to show attributes, maps, etc. In addition, it was agreed to temporarily move the figures of the main state builders from the Museum to the Parliament. The post emphasizes that all financial expenses are covered by the Museum of Formation of the Ukrainian Nation.

In a comment to Ukrinform, a representative of the Museum emphasized that this mini-exhibition was made at the expense of the Museum and without preferences.

"The information regarding the organization of the exhibition for several million is not true. The figures provided to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine were made four years ago. The Museum paid for their transportation," she added.
