Fake video: Ukraine transfers NATO weapons to Hamas

Fact Check

Russian propagandists fabricated a BBC-style video about the non-existent Bellingcat research

Russian Telegram channels and mass media shared the video which was allegedly released by BBC. It says that Bellingcat investigative journalists allegedly established that the weapons used by Hamas terrorists were transferred from Ukraine, and Ukraine received them from NATO.

The video is fake, the propagandists used the BBC format and the Bellingcat logo while creating it. There is no information about such a "research" on the official resources of BBC and Bellingcat.

In a comment to Ukrinform, founder of Bellingcat Eliot Higgins emphasized that the video is fake and has nothing to do with them.

Russian propagandists began to actively spread the narrative about Ukraine transferring foreign weapons to third countries after the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine to discredit the highest military and political leadership, as well as to stop the support from the West. Russian propaganda has disseminated this narrative through both small Telegram channels and state media, including TASS, quoting Russian foreign minister Lavrov.

After Hamas attacked Israel, propagandists intensified their information campaign in this area, but the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine denied the possibility of transferring weapons to terrorists.

In turn, Ambassador of Israel in Ukraine Michael Brodsky stressed that Israel has no information about the transfer of weapons to Hamas from Ukraine.

Earlier, the Russians spread a fake about Ukraine transferring weapons to third parties, referring to the statement by "DPR" leader Denis Pushylin, but Ukrinform refuted this fake also.
