Russian propagandists invent ‘working scheme’ for mobilization in Chernihiv
In their fake news story, Russian propagandists have mixed up military commissariats with territorial recruitment and social support centers
Russian Telegram channels have spread a photograph allegedly showing an announcement in the city of Chernihiv, which offers help to people in difficulties. In particular, this refers to food, housing, wages and medical examination. The phone number indicated in the advertisement allegedly belongs to Chernihiv Regional Military Commissariat. As a proof, Russian propagandists provide a Google Services screenshot with a phone number of the organization. In this way, Russians are leading to a conclusion about the so-called ‘working scheme’ for mobilization in Ukraine.
This is another Russian fake. The data from the Google Services referred to by Russian propagandists when producing the fake news story are outdated. Currently, territorial recruitment and social support centers, operating across Ukraine, have fully replaced military commissariats.
In a commentary to Ukrinform, the representatives of Chernihiv Regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center emphasized that their facility was Ukraine’s first institution of that kind.
“On December 28, 2018, Order No. 1 of the institution was signed officially. This date, accordingly, is the day of establishing Chernihiv Regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center along with the city and district territorial recruitment and social support centers all over the region,” the representatives of the Center told.
The phone number provided by Russian propagandists also appeared to be false. One can check the actual phone number of the institution on its official Facebook page.
This is not the first time for Russians to spread fake news stories about territorial recruitment centers. Earlier, Russian propagandists fabricated an invitation to New Year’s Eve party for children on behalf of Vinnytsia Regional Territorial Recruitment Center, allegedly to conscript their parents during the event.
