Russian propaganda creates fake about renting ‘patriotic’ apartment in Poltava

Propagandists are attempting to polarize Ukrainians using the language issue and the problem of IDPs

Russian propaganda Telegram channels are spreading a photo depicting the alleged conditions for renting a patriotic apartment in Poltava. The owner allegedly offers the apartment for rent only to Ukrainian-speaking clients and can arrange a check for a client's political position. Furthermore, the owner demands double payment for IDPs from Kharkiv or Sumy.

This is a fake. This description was created using a graphic editor. The reverse image search helped find the initial advertisement. The description provided by the propagandists is false, and the name "Poltava 2-room apartment" has been replaced with "Patriotic apartment."

The author of the initial advertisement refuted the fabricated description and emphasized that he did not conduct any interviews to ascertain a client’s political position.

The initial description of the apartment, instead of requirements and interviews, contains data on the availability of household amenities for a comfortable stay.

By spreading such fakes, Russians aim to polarize Ukrainian society. Propagandists are trying to play on the language issue and thus sow discord between regions in Ukraine.

Earlier, Ukrinform refuted the fake about a Patriot system provided to Ukraine that allegedly ended up in China.
