World Bank Group president praises reforms in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed with President of the World Bank Group Jim Yong the implementation of structural reforms in Ukraine.

“We are decisive to continue reforms in Ukraine,” Poroshenko assured.

The Ukrainian President informed the interlocutor on the implementation of the judicial reform, particularly the formation of a new composition of the Supreme Court and the creation of the Anti-Corruption Court.

Poroshenko also noted that important laws regarding the education, pension and healthcare reforms adopted in autumn.

The parties paid special attention to the implementation of the healthcare reform in Ukraine, particularly its component on the development of medicine in rural areas with the use of telemedicine. The president of the World Bank Group praised the Ukrainian Parliament’s successful approval of the reform-oriented law on rural medicine.

Poroshenko urged the president of the World Bank Group to take under his patronage the assistance in the implementation of the component of the healthcare reform to provide the rural population of Ukraine with the medical services of the proper level. Jim Yong Kim promised to do everything possible to financially and technically support the implementation of reforms in the medical and education sectors.

The president of the World Bank Group praised the implementation of reforms in Ukraine. “I am optimistic about the future of Ukraine,” he said.
