Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov: Russia does not recognize ‘DPR’, ‘LPR’

Russia is going to adhere to the Minsk agreements and will not recognize the terrorist organizations “Donetsk People’s Republic” and “Luhansk People’s Republic.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said this in an interview with a Russian TV channel.

When asked whether Russia can "recognize" the “DPR” and “LPR”, Lavrov replied that "we [Russia] are still people of our word." "We always stand by our word, especially when it was the subject of negotiations and approved by the UN Security Council. The Minsk agreements have not been cancelled. I believe that the one, who takes the first step to break the Minsk agreements, will make a colossal mistake," Lavrov said.

As a reminder, on February 18, 2017, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on recognizing in Russia the passports and other documents of the “DPR” and “LPR.”
