Ambassador: Iran supports territorial integrity of Ukraine, does not recognize annexation of Crimea
Iran has always supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and has never recognized the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ukraine Mohammad Beheshti-Monfared said this during a press conference in Kyiv on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We have always supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. We wish Ukraine peace, stability and calmness. The Islamic Republic of Iran has never recognized the annexation of Crimea," the ambassador said, answering the question whether Iran recognizes the fact that Russia has occupied the part of the territory of Ukraine – the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and some areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Iran is ready to provide its mediation services for mending relations between Ukraine and Russia in case of need, the diplomat noted.
