Poroshenko signs law on Anti-Corruption Court

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on the High Anti-Corruption Court.

The signing ceremony took place during a meeting of the head of the Ukrainian state with students of the Academy of Leadership, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Today is a historic day. It is the historic day because of "visa-free regime" [Ukraine marks the first anniversary of visa-free travel to the European Union]. For me, this day is very important, because today is also the birthday of my father. It is the historic day because this is a key milestone in the completion of an independent anti-corruption infrastructure," the president said.

At the same time, he stresses that the adoption and signing of the law is not the end of the work, but the beginning of the creation of an independent anti-corruption court.

As reported, on June 9, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy signed the law on the Anti-Corruption Court passed by the Parliament on June 7.

The MPs determined the principles of the organization and activities of the High Anti-Corruption Court as the highest specialized court in the judicial system, special requirements for judges of this court and guarantees of their activities, as well as the peculiarities of holding a competition for the position of a judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court.
