German foreign minister goes to Moscow and Kyiv

On Friday, January 18, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas will go to Russia and then to Ukraine.

German Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Adebahr said this at a briefing on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“The minister will pay a visit to Moscow on Friday, and then Kyiv,” Adebahr said.

In Kyiv, Maas will meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin in order to discuss the situation in eastern Ukraine and the reforms in the country.

The Ukrainian issue will be among key ones during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow. The parties will discuss the state of implementation of the Minsk agreements, the situation in the Sea of Azov, as well as the issue of Syria and the future membership of Russia in the Council of Europe.
