Poroshenko to speak about Crimea, Donbas at UNGA session

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will speak about the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine at a session of the UN General Assembly next week.

He announced this in Kharkiv at a solemn meeting on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the foundation of JSC Turboatom, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"In less than a week, I will be in New York reporting from the rostrum of the UN General Assembly for the first time on the situation in occupied territories, demanding protection for the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine," Poroshenko said.

According to him, Russian occupation has caused human suffering, and Ukraine has paid the highest price with the lives of its heroes. The occupation has also caused a serious blow to the Ukrainian industry, he added.

At the same time, Poroshenko said that the systematic and purposeful displacement of Ukrainian enterprises from the Russian market had begun not since 2014, but since the beginning of 2000. Particularly critical was the signing of gas agreements with Russia in 2009, he said.

Poroshenko is on a working visit to Kharkiv region on February 14.
