United Kingdom calls on Russia to stop human rights violations in Crimea
The Ukrainian Embassy in the United Kingdom in connection with Russian FSB’s searches in the houses of Crimean Tatar activists called on Russia to stop violating human rights in Crimea.
"The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has just been informed about another wave of Russia's human rights abuses in the occupied Crimea. At least 25 houses of Crimean Tatars were searched, many people were detained. Lawyers' presence was not allowed. There will be a range of fabricated charges ahead. Russia must stop violating human rights in Crimea," the embassy posted on Twitter.
As reported, on Wednesday morning, March 27, the officers of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) conducted searches in the houses of at least 25 Crimean Tatar families in the occupied Crimea within the framework of criminal cases, which had been opened against several residents of Crimea suspected of participating in the activities of the Hizb ut-Tahrir religious organization banned in Russia.
