Ukrainian parliament speaker to participate in Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy will take part in the 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which will take place in Qatar on April 6-8.

The parliament speaker said this at a meeting with Qatar's Ambassador to Ukraine Hadi bin Nasser Al Hajri, the press service of the Verkhovna Rada reported.

"The chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, welcoming the ambassador, noted his active work in Ukraine and also officially confirmed that he would take part in the work of the 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held April 6-8, 2019 in the capital of Qatar, the city of Doha," the report reads.

In this regard, the ambassador noted that the participation of the Ukrainian parliament speaker in the international parliamentary forum will promote the intensification of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Ukraine and Qatar.

In particular, the diplomat noted that it is extremely important for Qatar to increase economic cooperation with Ukraine, in particular, in the field of natural gas exports.

The parties also discussed the prospect of signing a cooperation agreement between the Verkhovna Rada and the Consultative Assembly of Qatar.
