Zelensky arrives on official visit to Turkey

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived on an official visit to Turkey.

The plane with the head of state landed at Ankara Airport at 13:50 on Wednesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

Zelensky began his visit by laying flowers at the Ataturk Mausoleum.

Laying flowers at the Ataturk Mausoleum is a traditional event held during all official visits to honor the memory of Turkey's first president, national hero Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

The Ukrainian president is also scheduled to meet with the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar communities and take part in the ceremony to open the new office building of the Crimean Tatar Diaspora.

At 17:00, Zelensky will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. A joint press conference is scheduled for 19:00.

In the evening, Zelensky will leave for Istanbul, where he will participate in a business forum and meet with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on August 8.

The Ukrainian president is also expected to visit Bayraktar Makina, an enterprise that supplies Turkish strike drones Bayraktar TB2 to Ukraine.
