Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople has reaffirmed his support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

He said this during a meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Istanbul on Thursday, August 8, the press service of the head of state reported.

"The Ecumenical Patriarch reaffirmed his support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine," the report says.

In turn, Zelensky thanked the Ecumenical Patriarch for supporting Ukraine.

“Our common value is human life. This is the main thing for me, especially now, when I became the president of Ukraine. The authorities shouldn’t interfere in church affairs. I will defend the independence of the church,” the head of state emphasized.
