Latvia at UN: Russia’s disregard of international law cannot be recognized as ‘new norm’
The international community must not tolerate violations by the Russian Federation of the principle of territorial integrity of other states in any case.
Latvian President Egils Levits said this in his address at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 24, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"I must point out Russia's open disrespect for the principles of international law, as evidenced by the long-term violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and Georgia. Such a blatant disregard of international law cannot be accepted as a "new norm," Levits said.
He noted that "the multilateral world order requires that all Member States respect territorial integrity and sovereignty, as defined in the UN Charter."
