Macron briefs Zelensky on Normandy format meeting scenario

President of France Emmanuel Macron has briefed President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the scenario and format of holding the negotiations in the Normandy format.

This was discussed during the meeting of the presidents, the press service of the President of Ukraine posted on Facebook.

“The bilateral meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of France Emmanuel Macron has ended. It was the first bilateral meeting within the framework of negotiations planned for today to shape a vision for the end of war in Donbas. Emmanuel Macron, as the host party, briefed Volodymyr Zelensky on the scenario and format of the talks,” the statement reads.

After talks with Macron, the President of Ukraine will hold a face-to-face meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The leaders of the Normandy Four countries – Ukraine, France, Germany and the Russian Federation – meet in Paris today, on December 9.

The Office of the President of Ukraine refrains from predicting the length of Normandy format talks.
