Honcharuk to chair sixth meeting of EU-Ukraine Association Council in Brussels
Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk will chair the sixth meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council in Brussels, Belgium, on Tuesday, January 28, the liaisons department of the secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers has reported.
"The agenda includes the discussion of the security situation in eastern Ukraine in the context of countering Russian aggression and implementing the Minsk agreements, as well as the situation in the temporarily occupied Crimea. During the meeting of the Association Council, the parties will also analyze the progress made in the implementation of the Association Agreement and discuss the ways of deepening Ukraine's economic and sectoral cooperation with the European Union, cooperation in the field of justice, freedom, and security," the report reads.
It notes that the Ukrainian government's delegation will be headed by Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk. The delegation of the European Union will be led by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell. The meeting will also be attended by EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Oliver Varhelyi.
The Ukrainian government's delegation also includes Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Dmytro Kuleba, Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko, Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii, Education and Science Minister Hanna Novosad, Finance Minister Oksana Markarova, Deputy Minister for Digital Transformation in charge of European Integration Valeriya Ionan, Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, Trade Representative Taras Kachka, Deputy Justice Minister Valeria Kolomiets, and Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Protection in charge of European Integration Kostiantyn Chyzhyk.
In addition to attending the plenary session, Honcharuk will also hold bilateral meetings with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell, as well as a meeting with Belgian business representatives.
"Following the sixth meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council, a joint press conference by Oleksiy Honcharuk and Josep Borrell will be held at 18:15 local time," the report reads.
