Government liquidating ‘maritime inspectorates’ due to their inefficiency – Honcharuk

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to abolish "maritime inspectorates” because of their inefficiency, Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk has written on his Telegram channel.

“The government is liquidating 'maritime inspectorates' because of their inefficiency. The State Environmental Inspectorate had two separate ‘maritime’ inspectorates - the Crimean-Black Sea and Azov Inspectorates. They were created to strengthen environmental control at ports,” the prime minister wrote.

Unfortunately, the experiment had the opposite result. Instead of proper control, the state has received numerous complaints from international carriers and ship owners.

"In fact, these authorities have completely discredited themselves," Honcharuk wrote.

Ha added that the functions to oversight ships will be transferred to the regional inspectorates. From now on, every detention of the ship should be authorized by the head of the State Environmental Inspectorate.
