Ukrainian parliament approves new government composition

The Verkhovna Rada has approved the composition of the new Cabinet of Ministers, which was introduced by newly appointed Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

A total of 277 MPs voted for this decision at a snap parliament meeting on Wednesday.

"We have four vacancies in the government today, and we plan to expand two areas. So, of course, today we are in talks with women," Shmyhal said.

The new Cabinet of Ministers includes Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Vadym Prystaiko, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Oleksiy Reznikov, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Minister for Veterans Serhiy Bessarab, Minister for Youth and Sports Vadym Huttsayt, Health Minister Illia Yemets, Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii, Social Policy Minister Maryna Lazebna, Justice Minister Denys Maliuska, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchinov, Finance Minister Ihor Umansky, and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Chernyshov.

Earlier on March 4, lawmakers voted for the resignation of Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk, who tendered his resignation on March 3. The prime minister's resignation means the automatic resignation of the entire government.

After that, 291 MPs voted for Shmyhal's appointment as the new Ukrainian prime minister. Shmyhal previously served as deputy prime minister and minister for communities and territories development.
