Zelensky approves Ukraine-NATO program for 2020
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree "On the Annual National Program under the auspices of the NATO-Ukraine Commission for 2020," the presidential press service has reported.
"The Annual National Program (ANP) defines the strategic objective of reforms, goals and priorities within the implementation of Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration policy, as well as the state bodies responsible for the implementation of these tasks," the report said.
The program is a systemic document aimed at the planned implementation of the state's strategic course for full membership in NATO enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine.
The program pays particular attention to meeting the criteria for NATO membership, transferring Ukraine's security and defense sector to NATO standards, and strengthening democratic civilian control.
According to the report, the main emphasis in the program is on the state's efforts to ensure the security and well-being of a person as a key player in national security.
The implementation of comprehensive reforms in various areas envisaged by the ANP should bring Ukraine even closer to the Alliance, the President's Office said.
