SBU questions Medvedchuk
Investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) have questioned Opposition Platform – For Life MP Viktor Medvedchuk as part of criminal proceedings, sources in law enforcement agencies have told Ukrinform.
"Today, Viktor Medvedchuk was interrogated by SBU investigators as part of criminal proceedings," they said.
It is not yet clear as part of which proceedings Medvedchuk was questioned, but it can be assumed that the interrogation took place in the case of treason, which investigates the facts of recent conversations between Medvedchuk and former Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov.
In addition, Ukrinform learned that former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko was also summoned to the SBU today, but the latter did not come for questioning.
Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council at a meeting on February 19 decided to impose sanctions on 19 legal entities and eight individuals, including Medvedchuk and his wife, Oksana Marchenko. The restrictions were imposed in connection with the SBU's investigation into terrorist financing.
According to NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov, sanctions have been imposed on all of Medvedchuk's property.
