MFA condemns organization of Abkhazia tours by Ukrainian travel agency
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has received a note from the Georgian Embassy in Ukraine regarding the organization of tours to Russian-occupied Abkhazia by Ukrainian travel agency Kuluar and considers such activities to be absolutely unacceptable, the ministry's spokesperson, Oleg Nikolenko, has told Ukrinform.
"The Foreign Ministry confirms the receipt of a note from the Georgian Embassy in Ukraine regarding the organization of tours to the temporarily occupied territory of Georgia - Abkhazia - by the Kuluar travel agency. As a country that itself suffers from Russian aggression and the temporary occupation of its territories, we consider such activities of the Kuluar agency to be absolutely unacceptable," he said.
Nikolenko said that the relevant authorities, including law enforcement agencies, were already working on this issue in order to clarify all the circumstances and determine possible legal consequences.
"I want to make it clear that our state highly values the strategic partnership with Georgia and invariably supports and respects its sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders," he said.
Earlier, the Georgian Embassy in Ukraine in a comment to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty expressed its extremely negative attitude to the organization of tours to the occupied Georgian territory by Ukrainian travel agency Kuluar and said it had addressed the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry in this regard.
