Blinken thanks Ukraine for its assistance in evacuating people from Afghanistan

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who joined the meeting of the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States, thanked Ukraine for its assistance helping evacuate people out of Afghanistan.

He wrote about this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

"The U.S.-Ukrainian partnership is stronger than ever and we're committed to Ukraine’s bright and prosperous future. I commend Ukraine for its assistance helping evacuate those at-risk in Afghanistan,” Blinken wrote.

As reported, six planes arrived in Ukraine from Afghanistan, having evacuated more than 650 Ukrainians, members of their families, foreign journalists, international human rights defenders and people at-risk.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is in Washington on an official visit at the invitation of U.S. President Joe Biden. The visit of the Ukrainian president to the United States is scheduled to end on Sunday, September 5.
