National Security and Defense Council launches system for monitoring oligarchs

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine launched a system for monitoring oligarchs.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov made a corresponding announcement at a briefing following the NSDC meeting on September 17, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to him, this system needed to be developed within the framework of the bill on oligarchs, which is being prepared for the second reading.

"The National Security and Defense Council was tasked with developing a monitoring system, and today we heard a report that the National Security and Defense Council developed and put into operation in August 2021 a modern information and analytical system with a third-class system of the highest level of complexity. It will be able to monitor all those people who, after the Verkhovna Rada passes the law on oligarchs, should be subject to our monitoring system," Danilov said.

According to the NSDC Secretary, the system can work with open documents, documents for official use, and those classified.

"It is built in such a way that we will be able to respond immediately to all the questions that the legislator will ask us that if the law is passed in the Verkhovna Rada," Danilov added.

Currently, not all MPs want to vote for the bill on oligarchs, he added.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada passed at first reading a presidential bill on de-oligarchization at a special sitting on July 1.
