Zelensky: Ukraine is open to big business, but not to oligarchic influence
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has thanked the Verkhovna Rada for passing the law on oligarchs and assured that Ukraine is open to big business, but not to oligarchic influence on officials, politicians and the media.
President Zelensky wrote this on his Twitter account, Ukrinform reports.
“I welcome the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of my bill No.5599 on de-oligarchization. Ukraine is open to big business, but not to oligarchic influence on officials, politicians and the media. Today we have taken another step to get rid of it. I thank all MPs for their support," Zelensky wrote.
As reported, the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday, September 23, approved the law "On the prevention of threats to national security related to the excessive influence of persons who have significant economic or political weight in public life (oligarchs)" (No.5599). A total of 279 MPs voted in favor of the law.
