Servant of the People to independently decide on candidate for VR chairperson – Zelensky
People's deputies from the Servant of the People parliamentary faction will independently decide whom to suggest for the post of a new chairman of the Verkhovna Rada if Dmytro Razumkov is removed from that post.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said this at a press conference in Truskavets, when asked whether Ruslan Stefanchuk, the first vice speaker of the parliament, can take the post of a new chairman of the Verkhovna Rada if Razumkov is removed from the post, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"As to the question about Ruslan Stefanchuk. There will definitely be a faction [meeting] that will discuss whom to suggest as a candidate for the speaker’s post from the mono-majority. In such a format, we conduct everything: 70% to 30%. If 70% of the vote will support this or that candidate, this or that law, this or that decision, we agree that everyone will support. Regardless of who you are, the deputy or, by the way, already the speaker. The same applied to government officials. We have party agreements,” Zelensky said.
On October 2, MPs from the Servant of the People faction collected the necessary 150 signatures to initiate the recalling of Dmytro Razumkov, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada. It took place as part of the faction’s meeting in Truskavets, Lviv region.
Ukrinform learned from some sources that the main candidate for the post of speaker of the Ukrainian parliament is Ruslan Stefanchuk, the current first vice speaker.
