Razumkov says procedure launched to remove him as parliament speaker

The procedure for removing Dmytro Razumkov from the post of the Verkhovna Rada chairman has been launched on the basis of a motion filed by David Arakhamia, head of the parliamentary faction of the Servant of the People.

Razumkov posted a respective document on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"On the basis of a motion filed by MP David Arakhamia, the procedure for removing the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from office is being launched," Razumkov wrote.

He reiterated that the procedure for his removal from the post would be carried out exclusively in accordance with the law and the rules of procedure of the Verkhovna Rada.

Servant of the People MPs at a two-day field meeting in Truskavets on October 2 collected the 150 signatures needed to initiate the removal of Verkhovna Rada Chairman Dmytro Razumkov from office. According to Yuliia Paliichuk, spokeswoman for the Servant of the People faction, some 197 signatures of MPs were collected to remove Razumkov from the post of parliament speaker.

The main candidate for the post of head of the parliament is Ruslan Stefanchuk, first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada.
