Ukraine, EU sign Open Sky Agreement

Ukraine and the European Union have signed a Common Aviation Area Agreement.

The signing ceremony was attended by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, President of the European Council Charles Michel, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

On June 28, 2021, the EU Council agreed to sign Common Aviation Area (CAP) agreements with Ukraine, Armenia, Tunisia, and Qatar.

Negotiations on the CAP with Ukraine were completed in 2013, but the signing of the deal had been blocked due to a conflict between the UK and Spain over the status of Gibraltar airport.

As reported, the 23rd Ukraine-European Union summit took place on Tuesday.
