U.S. to further strengthen Ukraine's energy security - State Department
The United States, together with its allies, will further strengthen Ukraine's energy security, including by reducing the risks posed by Nord Stream 2.
That’s according to a statement by the U.S. Department of State following a Tuesday meeting of U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrinform reports.
“Secretary Blinken reaffirmed the United States’ unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity,” the statement reads.
Noting that Blinken “welcomed Ukraine’s steps to address corruption,” the statement says the top diplomat “underscored that, together with our allies and partners, the United States would continue to reinforce Ukrainian energy security, including by reducing the risks posed by the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.”
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky met with Anthony Blinken in Glasgow, UK, on Tuesday, on the margins of the COP26 international climate change conference.
As reported earlier, on Tuesday, Zelensky met with U.S. President Joe Biden.
