EU closely following situation on Ukraine's border with Russia - Borrell
The European Union is closely following the situation on Ukraine's border with Russia and considers it worrisome, EU High Representative Josep Borrell has said.
He said this at a press conference following a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"We are following the security situation at the eastern border of Ukraine very closely. There are worrisome facts of troop movements on the Russian border with Ukraine. […] The information we gathered is rather worrying. We discussed this yesterday by phone with Minister [of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro] Kuleba, and our support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity is unwavering," Borrell said.
According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, Russia amassed about 90,000 troops near the Ukrainian border and in Ukraine's temporarily occupied territories as of early November.
