Ukraine, Israel to expand bilateral cooperation

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov and Israeli Minister of Housing and Construction and Minister of Jerusalem Affairs Ze'ev Elkin have held in Jerusalem a plenary meeting of the joint Ukrainian-Israeli commission on trade and economic cooperation, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's press service has reported.

According to the report, final protocols were signed after the meeting, which will lay the foundation for the intensification of economic cooperation between the two countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, Elkin emphasized the importance of developing bilateral relations between Israel and Ukraine, adding that now there are all opportunities for mutual success, including for the expansion of cooperation in the development of advanced technologies, along with cooperation in agriculture and irrigation.

Reznikov, in turn, stressed the importance of expanding cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism, medicine and security.

The press service noted that Ukraine's Ambassador to Israel Yevhen Korniychuk stressed the need to expand cooperation in the energy sector, including in the area of gas production on the Black Sea shelf. Reznikov, on behalf of Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko, invited Israeli Energy Minister Karine Elharrar-Hartstein to take part in energy projects being implemented by Ukraine.

The Ukrainian delegation, headed by Reznikov, is on a working visit to Israel. During the visit, a number of meetings were held with senior Israeli officials, including Head of the National Security Council of Israel Eyal Hulata.
