NATO Allies respond “very clearly” to Ukraine's call to contain Russia - Kuleba
NATO member states have responded very clearly to Ukraine's call to deepen military-technical cooperation, send clear signals to Russia that armed aggression is unbearable and work on sanctions.
This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba who spoke at a press conference in Riga on December 1, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The main thing is that we heard very clearly today at the ministerial meeting the response to my call to deepen cooperation with Ukraine in the military-technical field and, secondly, to send clear signals at all levels in Russia that any new wave of armed aggression against Ukraine would become an unbearable burden for Russia, and, thirdly, to work on sanctions. All three tracks are very dynamic. This is what I heard today. This answer delivered by my colleagues suits me at the moment. We will continue to work with them to form this containment package," the foreign minister said.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy also told journalists about the two tracks of cooperation with the Alliance.
"The first track is what NATO can do as an Alliance. The second track is what every NATO Ally is able to do at the bilateral level in relations with Ukraine. And we are very grateful to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg for his principled position. He constantly calls on the Allies to work as much as possible with Ukraine and to develop cooperation in the security area at the bilateral level," Kuleba said.
The top diplomat added that the country was in discussions with each country on a specific contribution to the containment package, also noting the NATO mechanisms in which Ukraine participates.
"They concern both defense procurement, cybersecurity, and countering hybrid threats, where we are now working with the Alliance to receive concrete assistance and support," he said.
As Ukrinform reported, on December 1, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba took part in a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Riga at the invitation of Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
