G7 ambassadors call for selection of SAP head to be completed without further delay

G7 ambassadors have called on the commission selecting a new head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) to complete the selection process without further delay and in full transparency.

That is according to the Twitter account of the UK Presidency of the G7 Ambassadors' Support Group in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.

"G7 Ambassadors urge the commission selecting a new Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor to conclude its important function and, without further delay, finalize the process of selecting a new head of SAPO, in full transparency," the tweet reads.

G7 ambassadors emphasized that "independent anti-corruption institutions, including an independent specialized anti-corruption prosecutor, remain crucial to Ukraine's resilience and prosperity, and to reducing the harmful impact of oligarchs on Ukraine's economy and politics."

President Volodymyr Zelensky said on November 26 that he wanted the SAP head to be elected in Ukraine by the end of 2021.

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office plays a special role in the system of anti-corruption bodies. The independence and professionalism of its head determine the thoroughness of NABU's investigations and the worthy presentation of charges in the High Anti-Corruption Court. The former SAP head, Nazar Kholodnytsky, tendered his resignation on August 21, 2020.
