Britain champions efforts to sanction Russia - Kuleba
The United Kingdom not only heard Ukraine out, they also became one of the leaders in the process of developing a comprehensive package of measures to deter Russia from further aggression.
This was stated by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in a live broadcast on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
"I’d like to note that London not only heard Ukraine when we called on our partners to develop a comprehensive Russia deterrence package, but also became one of the leaders in this process," he said.
Kuleba noted Britain's current policies, such as the Post-Brexit philosophy, which is about acting first to prevent challenges rather than to respond to them.
"That is, not to be afraid to take the first step. This is a philosophy that is very close to mine, the one by which President (Volodymyr - ed.) Zelensky is guided, and which we sometimes lack in relations with certain partners. But London is just demonstratively ready to take steps, ready to show initiative," the minister stressed.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy said that the meetings during his London visit focused on how Russia sanctions were being prepared and how military-technical cooperation between Ukraine and Britain would be deepened, as well as how the countries would strengthen security in Europe.
Kuleba also noted that work would continue on organizing next year’s visit to Ukraine of Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on December 8, during his visit to the UK, Dmytro Kuleba met with members of the British Parliament, who assured him of their readiness to work together with Ukraine to deter Russia from further aggression.
