Gogilashvili dismissed as Ukraine's deputy interior minister

The Cabinet of Ministers has dismissed Oleksandr Gogilashvili as Ukraine's deputy interior minister at his own request.

The text of a respective order has been posted on the government's website, according to Ukrinform.

It was reported earlier that Gogilashvili was involved in a scandal with police officers at the entrance to Donetsk region when his car was stopped and he was asked to present his documents. The video of the incident was posted on YouTube.

Ukraine's Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky said on December 11 said that he was initiating disciplinary proceedings against his deputy, Gogilashvili, due to the incident that occurred at a checkpoint in Donetsk region. He added that he would personally study all the details of what had happened, and "will make respective managerial decisions."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on December 12 urged the Cabinet of Ministers to consider Gogilashvili's dismissal from the post over the incident.
