Zelensky meets with European Council President Michel in Brussels
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has met in Brussels with President of the European Council Charles Michel and expressed hope for EC’s clear signals on the inadmissibility of the escalation on eastern borders of Ukraine.
“Coordinated positions with Charles Michel before the 6th Eastern Partnership Summit. Our goal is Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union. Informed about the situation on the eastern borders. We expect clear signals following the EU Council meeting on Dec 16 on the inadmissibility of escalation,” Zelensky posted on Twitter.
As the President's Office noted, during the meeting, the Head of State pointed out the importance of determining the strategic goals of the Eastern Partnership, in particular regarding the relations between the EU and the Associated Trio countries.
Zelensky also stressed that Ukraine's strategic goal in relations with the European Union is the achievement of full membership, so Ukraine expects the EU to recognize its European prospects.
Zelensky briefed Michel on the security situation along the borders of Ukraine.
According to the President's Office, the leaders agreed with the need to continue making joint efforts to prevent the escalation of the conflict.
Zelensky added that he expects the EU leaders to send clear signals to the Russian Federation following the European Council meeting on December 16.
On December 15-16, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky makes a working visit to Brussels, where he will take part in the 6th Eastern Partnership Summit.
