Biden, Zelensky to speak over phone soon - White House

The presidents of the United States and Ukraine will hold phone talks in the near future to discuss the threats coming from the Russian Federation, as well as America’s dialogue with Russia in various formats.

This was announced by a high-ranking U.S. administration official during a phone briefing on Wednesday, Ukrinform's own correspondent in Washington reports.

President Biden and President Zelensky are expected to maintain close contact, the official said, adding that Washington has no specific date for the call in the schedule yet, noting that the two leaders will talk soon.

The official reaffirmed President Biden’s stance to not discuss issues related to allies and partners without the latter’s participation.

In this regard, the administration official has underlined that high-level contacts with the Ukrainian side continue on a daily basis. The official also noted that the White House will share more information on the upcoming talks of the U.S. and Ukrainian presidents as soon as more details are available.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, referring to the White House, the presidents of the United States and Russia on December 30 will discuss by phone a number of issues, including the expected diplomatic talks with Russia.

Earlier, the U.S. secretary of state held talks with the president of Ukraine to confirm at the highest level Washington's unwavering support of the Ukrainian nation.
