Danilov says Russia now cannot carry out large-scale invasion of Ukraine

Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov has said that Russia now cannot even physically carry out a large-scale invasion of Ukraine.

He said this at a briefing following a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on Thursday, December 30, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Our experts say that today the Russian Federation cannot carry out a large-scale invasion of our country, even physically," Danilov said.

He explained that there was a "small increase" in Russia's military presence at the border, but stressed that it was "not too critical for us" and the situation was under control.

"Keep calm and rest, celebrate. A big information campaign is now underway, but we do not see any direct threat to our state today," Danilov said.

At the same time, he did not rule out that the Kremlin could make "some other decision" regarding a possible invasion of Ukraine, but promised that in this case, the Ukrainian side would react accordingly.

Danilov also stressed that Russia's number one issue now is internal destabilization within Ukraine, and they are "working hard" on this.
