Ukraine looks forward to support from France during its presidency of EU

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated President of France Emmanuel Macron on the start of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union and expressed hope for support for Ukraine’s European aspirations.

“Congratulations to Emmanuel Macron on starting his EU presidency. I wish success in advancing ambitious EU agenda, overcoming challenges. We look forward to support of Ukraine’s European aspirations, deepening Ukraine-European Union cooperation, especially in security area,” Zelensky posted on Twitter on January 1.

On 1 January 2022, France took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from Slovenia. The next six months of France’s Presidency will be held under the motto “Recovery, Strength, and a Sense of Belonging”.
