Borrell to visit Ukraine on first foreign trip this year
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell will pay a working visit to Ukraine on January 4-6.
That’s according to the press service of the European Commission, Ukrinform reports.
"His first foreign trip this year underscores EU's strong support to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity at a time when the country is confronted with Russian military build-up and hybrid actions," the statement said.
It is noted that the High Representative of the European Union, accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, will first visit the east of Ukraine, including the line of contact in the hostility zone.
Then the EU official will come to Kyiv, where he will meet with the Ukrainian authorities.
Borrell will talk to the press on Wednesday, January 5, at 12:00 local time.
As Ukrinform reported, EU High Representative Josep Borrell had a phone call with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, reaffirming the EU's firm position in support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity amid Russia's ongoing military buildup around our country's borders.
