Zelensky after talks with Stoltenberg: Open door policy remains unchanged

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held a phone call with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to discuss stability in Europe and Ukraine's participation in the military alliance's summit this June.

The head of state announced this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

"Had a phone conversation with Jens Stoltenberg. Exchanged information and views on the diplomatic efforts needed for stability in Europe. Discussed preparations for the NATO Summit in June and Ukraine's possible participation in it. The open door policy remains unchanged!" Zelensky wrote.

Earlier, Russia demanded that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization break its promise made at the Bucharest Summit in 2008 that Ukraine and Georgia would one day become members of the military alliance.

At the same time, after recent talks with Russia, Stoltenberg said that NATO would not give up its open door policy to other nations.
