Georgia expresses solidarity with Ukraine amid Russia’s aggressive actions
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba had a telephone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia David Zalkaliani in the context of consolidating international support for Ukraine.
Zalkaliani expressed “Georgia's solidarity with Ukraine against the background of aggressive actions of the Russian Federation and assured of steadfast support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the Ministry’s press service informs.
As noted, Georgia has no intentions to evacuate the embassy staff and their families from Kyiv.
Kuleba informed his Georgian counterpart in detail about the current security situation near the state border and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the implementation of a comprehensive package by Ukraine and its international partners to deter Russia from further aggression.
Kuleba and Zalkaliani agreed on a common position: concessions on Ukraine's and Georgia's integration into NATO required by Russia are unacceptable. The ministers also coordinated further steps in both countries' relations with the Alliance and the EU.
The interlocutors paid special attention to the development of the Associated Trio and GUAM economic projects in order to increase trade and investment, create new opportunities for exporters in the region.
Kuleba raised the issue of observance of the legal rights and interests of Mikheil Saakashvili, a citizen of Ukraine. He called on the Georgian authorities to admit a Ukrainian doctor for a medical examination.
