Yermak meets with leaders of world Jewish organizations

On the eve of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is marked on January 27, Head of the Ukrainian President's Office Andriy Yermak met with leaders of world Jewish organizations, Ukrinform reports, referring to the Ukrainian president’s press service.

During the meeting, Yermak focused on the security situation around Ukraine and the importance of a consolidated position of the entire democratic international community to prevent a new wave of escalation. “I am grateful to the world Jewish community for their support. The whole world hears your weighty voice. We really appreciate it," said the head of the President's Office.

In addition, it was agreed to continue the dialogue in this format on a regular basis. In particular, Yermak noted that Ukraine pays special attention to the memory of the victims of Nazism, supports activities to study the history of the Holocaust and promotes international efforts to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

In this regard, Yermak thanked all members of the world Jewish community for participating in commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar massacre tragedy, which were held in Kyiv on November 6, 2021.

In turn, leaders of Jewish organizations praised the adoption of a law on preventing and combating antisemitism in Ukraine, which demonstrates Ukraine's consistent position on preventing this shameful phenomenon.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day is commemorated worldwide on January 27. Ukraine has been honoring the victims of the tragedy at the state level since 2012.
