Heads of government of three countries to visit Ukraine this week
The prime ministers of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Poland will pay working visits to Kyiv this week.
A corresponding announcement was made by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba on the evening of January 30, the Ministry’s press service informs.
According to Kuleba, Ukrainian diplomats make every effort to maintain a high intensity of diplomatic negotiations and the presence of foreign top officials in Ukraine as a factor in reducing security threats.
"We are really vigilant and consider every scenario. But diplomacy continues to work, and the situation remains in line with diplomatic negotiations. This is the main result of intensive diplomacy in the interests of the security of Ukraine and Ukrainian citizens," Kuleba said.
He praised the active diplomatic talks of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, including telephone conversations with U.S. President and Joe Biden and French leader Emmanuel Macron, the main result of which is maintaining the security situation in line with diplomatic talks.
"From the very beginning, we have built this diplomacy in a way to present Kyiv as the center. We call this network diplomacy. We know what they are saying to Russia and what the Russians are saying in response," he said.
The minister explained that the network diplomacy made intensive diplomatic contacts of the partners with the Russian side take place in close coordination with Ukraine. In addition, Russia is informed of a common position agreed with Ukraine.
"The next two weeks will be ample proof. Only this week, three prime ministers of three different countries will visit Kyiv at the same time," Kuleba noted.
In particular, the heads of governments of Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Poland will arrive.
"My colleagues from Germany and France will arrive in Ukraine in a week. In particular, they will visit Donbas. I called on all partners to do this in order to see the war and human problems people face there with their own eyes," he said.
Kuleba also announced a series of telephone conversations and online meetings. According to him, the Foreign Ministry will have "two extremely busy diplomatic weeks."
The minister also confirmed the "revival" of the Normandy process and mentioned France's leadership in this matter.
Kuleba added that he had instructed all Ukrainian embassies to focus on strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and involving everything that bolsters the Armed Forces. Kuleba also stressed that the supply of defensive weapons was necessary primarily to shore up Ukraine's negotiating position.
Moreover, Ukraine has already started attracting support to maintain its financial and economic stability.
"The EU has already decided to grant EUR 1.2 billion in macro-financial assistance. Canada, the United States, and Denmark are also ready to help," he said.
As reported, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Yves Le Drian and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Annalena Baerbock will visit Ukraine on February 7-8.
