Scholz to express solidarity and support to Ukraine during Kyiv visit
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said he wants to show support from Berlin during his visit to Ukraine on Monday.
According to Ukrinform, he wrote about this on his Twitter account.
"In Kyiv, it is important to me to express our continuous solidarity and support to Ukraine," Scholz wrote.
He noted that today in Kyiv and tomorrow in Moscow he will proceed with talks about the still very serious situation at the Ukrainian border.
"We urgently expect signs of de-escalation from Moscow. Further military aggression would have very serious consequences for Russia. I absolutely agree with our allies on this. We are experiencing a very, very serious threat to peace in Europe," Scholz said.
In Kyiv, Scholz is to hold talks with President Volodymyr and have a joint lunch after a meeting with the media. He will also lay flowers at the monuments to the Unknown Soldier and the Heavenly Hundred.
Scholz will return to Berlin in the afternoon and will visit Moscow on Tuesday.
