Ukraine, Britain, Poland set up trilateral alliance
Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and Poland have launched a new trilateral format of cooperation aimed at responding to threats to European security and strengthening economic cooperation between the countries.
"Today we are honored and pleased to announce the launch of a new trilateral format of cooperation between Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and Poland," Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said at a joint press conference with Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom Liz Truss in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He added that Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Zbigniew Rau could not be present in Kyiv today for logistical reasons "but he stands with us remotely."
A joint statement by the three top diplomats would soon appear on the official websites of the countries’ foreign ministries, Kuleba added.
"In particular, it states that Great Britain and Poland will stand side by side with the Ukrainian people in their efforts to protect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. Poland and Great Britain will help us defend our state," the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said.
According to him, the members of the new format will also focus on economic, trade, energy cooperation and the fight against disinformation.
